U.S. Borderwatch in Houston

Confronting U.S. Borderwatch in Houston -
---

from Cesar Espinosa, CRECEN, Community Outreach Coordinator:

PROTEST THE DISCRIMINATORY ACTIONS OF SHELL STATION AT U.S. 59/WESTPARK on WED, JULY 2 AT 11 AM. HOUSTON
----

Today [July 1] from 9 - 12:30, the Shell Station owner/manager at U.S. 59 and Westpark in Houston - gave U.S. Borderwatch permission to place eight vehicules and persons inside their property protesting day laborers who seek work on that site.

Day laborers were threatened with arrest by U.S. Borderwatch and Shell Station Security Guard; THEY [the workers] MOVED ACROSS THE STREET.

I was threatened with arrest by the Shell Station security guard and U.S. Borderwatch as I crossed the gas station grounds and wrote down the license plates of the vehicules that had on them US Borderwatch.

I then asked gas station customers not to buy gas there. HPD was called to arrest me. The HPD officer gave me a warning.

While the gas station owner denied having asked U.S. Borderwatch to thier place of business, it was evident that they [the station owner] were not threatening them [U.S. Borderwatch] with arrest like they did the day laborers or anyone supporting them.
