No one is crying or yelling except a few thousand college students in Austin. DREAMers testified yesterday in Austin at the legislature but none of the newspapers deemed it important enough to discuss.
Rep. Lon Burnam, Dem- Fort Worth called this '"the most racist session of the Texas Legislature in a quarter of a century.'' Not since the mid-20th century, Mr. Burnam said, has the state seen so much legislation focused at subjugating a community of color.' see NYT Berman's Agenda Leads Charge from the Right - even so that was almost a week ago. Is the press ignoring all of this because these bills are so ridiculous?

State and local police officers would be allowed — but not required — to help enforce federal immigration laws under a compromise plan working its way through the Texas Legislature.
The bill is a far cry from some of the harsh crackdowns some lawmakers proposed, but it still sparked often emotional testimony in a House committee Wednesday night. Burt Solomons, R-Carrollton , made public today a letter in which he denounced his Republican colleague, Tyler's Leo Berman, as a chronic liar who has falsely accused state GOP leaders of helping deep-six bills to discourage illegal immigration and acquiescing in last session's death of a "voter ID" bill...more
