Is There Hope For a DREAM with Obama?

As of today, January 7, 2008 political polls show Barack Obama ten points ahead of Hilary Clinton. If Karl Rove doesn't come back from the dead to attack the 2008 Democratic Presidential candidate - Obama actually has somewhat of a chance (or better) to become our next president.

What could happen in a Obama administration? The theme today is "change" - he is going to change things. I hope so. The reality is, can he change things with a sluggish, wimpy Democratic Congress? Remember how the Congress played patsy to General Petreaus when he testified, smiling and fawning on him, knowing full well that Petreaus was basically following Rumsfeld's lead and Cheney's orders.

Back to Obama - he voted for the DREAM ACT in October - and excuse me for being cynical, but there have been very very few national political leaders who have not changed course on immigration (for the worse). Can Obama stay on track with the DREAM ACT and get it passed in 2009? Will he want to? It's too early to tell right now. We will learn a lot as we see him continue on his meteoric rise - His ethics will really show on this one.

Gary Hart posted a commentary about Obama in the Huffington Post today -
