DREAMer Rally, Washington D.C. Oct 7 9:45 am

from Matias Ramos:

ICE agents continue to disregard the directive to use their discretion and stop the deportations of people who have grown up in this country.

Last week, ICE picked up 25-year-old Shamir Amirali Ali in a workplace raid in Florida last Wednesday. Although I don't know him personally, I know he is a kind young leader who has lived in this country for 18 years, and was involved in the DREAM Act fight as an organizer and phone banker.

Shamir can be deported to Bangladesh as early as today because of a previous deportation order. He is currently being held at the Broward Detention Center in Florida. His lawyers have filed a deferred action request, but we have not heard back from ICE on whether it will be honored.

Tomorrow a group of community leaders, activists, and Dreamers will be delivering the more than 3,500 petitions that have been signed so far calling to stop his deportation. Please join us as we take a stand together.

Rally to stop Shamir's deportation and call for relief for Dreamers.
