The power of the consumer can be shown by NOT WATCHING. Since so many Latinos don't vote, maybe you could decide to vote with your TV set. If anyone really wanted to put pressure on to pass immigration reform or another needed law.... just stop watching and stop buying. A great political move would be to stop going to McDonalds for a while (if everyone did that, we would all be in better shape, especially health-wise) as a group... or stop buying at WalMart, or Target. The results would be immediate.... No need to have a protest march, or miss work for a day. Just stop buying and watching and see what happens.
Example: A group gets together and says ok, we are going to stop watching TV, buying at WalMart, Target, buying cars at big dealerships until decent Immigration Reform is passed. You keep going to work so you don't risk your job, you don't go out and protest and risk getting beat up or tasered by an LA cop. You just stop spending money.
Consumers have much more power than they think, more power than the vote.
P.S. Childhood obesity goes way down with kids who don't watch much TV!
